The Intercept (https://firstlook.org/theintercept/2014/12/04/nsa-auroragold-hack-cellphones/) The latest Edward Snowden leak to draw attention is how the American NSA and the UK's GCHQ are/were able to gain access to over 700 private mobile phone networks and snoop on their message traffic. Operation AuroraGold was the codename given to the worldwide hacking of mobile phone networks.
According to the Snowden leak, the NSA spied on hundreds of networks in attempts to find vulnerabilities in security that would allow a successful hack and entry in their systems. The report also discusses how the NSA deliberately introduced flawed code into communication systems that would later allow them to exploit the systems that ran the code. Key company personnel were also targeted, their emails / mobile phones hacked in an attempt to discover more about the systems they were working on and developed hacking technology that would allow these systems to be explored and exploited.

London is the number one location in the UK for business. Most businesses plan to have a London office and this is despite the overcrowding and the high rates associated with the City. The reason is because 80% of the country’s wealth comes from London. England’s south east is a very productive area in general with Kent, Surrey, Cambridgeshire and Oxfordshire having many technology based companies the develop a lot of new revenue streams for the UK economy.
London’s influence spreads out across England and the closer you are the London the more influence to city has over you. Birmingham in the Midlands and Northampton to the north of London have all felt the tremendous pull of London and many companies have sprung up in these two areas that are now generating wealth for the country. New Birmingham start companies (article here) and other more established computer services companies like The Dataclinic (http://www.dataclinic.co.uk/dataclinic-locations/) have found London to be an ideal location for an office but have also discovered the attraction of having regional hard drive service centres in both Northampton and Birmingham. According to Dataclinic’s Neville Saunders: “The data recovery offices we have in Northampton and Birmingham provide us with excellent satellite sites that complement the main London centre. Our network of hard drive service centres in the UK now provide us with almost a 100% coverage for provision of our data recovery services”. Speaking further with Neville I enquired what else attracted Data Clinic to Birmingham and Northampton and his reply was comforting: “The strong business presence and excellent infrastructure make both these places ideal, as data recovery centres in their own right but also both a in driving distance to London, which is also good” he said. Birmingham seems an excellent opportunity to start and new company or open a new office of an existing one and it’s road and rail links to Northampton are exemplary. With London less than 30 minutes away it’s not surprising that these three locations are in high demand. |
